Corvina explored across Valpolicella terroirs
A masterclass compared Corvina from four Veronese growing areas. Valpolicella Classica was described as moderately fertile but short of water, resulting in lower average yields and higher ripeness, structure, concentration and potential alcohol while retaining elegance and finesse. Terre di Cariano represented this zone.
Valpantena was described as hydrogeologically similar to Valpolicella Classica, but with hotter summers and a smaller day–night temperature range because of the valley’s shape. These conditions favour expressive power, deeper colour, higher potential alcohol and complete tannin maturation. Corvina from this area contributes to Cecilia Beretta Mizzole.
