De Miranda Asti Spumante DOCG launched

Contratto launched De Miranda Asti Spumante DOCG in January 2012, shortly after the Rivetti family assumed control of the winery. The project followed the success of a bottle-fermented De Miranda and reflected the family's interest in combining regional tradition with experimental production choices.

The Asti Spumante was vinified in pressure-controlled steel tanks and retained on its lees for substantially longer than a conventional example of the style. It completed fermentation at 8% alcohol with 130 g/L residual sugar. The intention was to unite Moscato's primary aromatic character with added complexity from prolonged yeast contact.
