Giovanni Rosso Launches a New Etna Bianco: Pietra Marina Ester Canale Rosso
Davide Rosso's Etna project began in 2014, inspired by the volcano's soils, native grapes and varied microclimates. The family acquired 14 hectares at Contrada Montedolce in 2016, planted Nerello Mascalese and Carricante, and converted a historic palmento into a modern cellar. A further 2 hectares were acquired at Contrada Pietra Marina in 2023. The northern-slope site near the Alcantara River combines volcanic sand and ash with fluvial silt, sand and sandstone outcrops. Its ventilation, elevation and temperature differences favour gradual ripening. The new project was named for Ester Canale Rosso and presented as a continuation of the family's commitment to precise, terroir-led production.
