A lesson with Attilio Scienza: forest and vineyard, a new alliance

Attilio Scienza addressed the Cecina Rotary Club at Guado al Melo on the relationship between forests, vineyards and climate change. He explained that adjacent woodland can reduce summer temperatures by 3–4°C and contribute to grape aromatic complexity. He also described the vine as a resilient organism with a microbiome of beneficial bacteria and fungi connected to its surroundings. Precision technologies and artificial intelligence were presented as tools for lowering the impact of vineyard management, with the future framed as an intelligent integration of natural and human-made systems.
