Podernovo project earns Organic Initiative of the Year

Tenute Lunelli received the Organic Initiative of the Year title at the Drinks Business Green Awards, an international programme established in 2010 to recognise environmental work across the beverage industry. Alessandro Lunelli accepted the award in London on 13 December 2019.

The award centred on the late-2018 launch of Podernovo's organic Cabernet Franc project. Its grapes were the first to complete Animavitis®, a non-invasive precision-viticulture system coordinated by Monica Rossetti. Animavitis® makes plant-by-plant vineyard monitoring and management possible while seeking to minimise environmental impact, combining agricultural technology with established vineyard practice. The initiative formed part of a wider programme encompassing organic certification, biodiversity protection and closer attention to air, water and soil quality.
