Tenuta San Guido and CNR Sign Agreement for the Future of the Viale dei Cipressi in Bolgheri
Tenuta San Guido and the Institute for Sustainable Plant Protection of Italy’s National Research Council launched a five-year project covering 2025–2029 to protect the Viale dei Cipressi.
The programme includes systematic phytosanitary monitoring, specialist training, assistance with sanitary restoration and replacement of compromised trees. New saplings will be propagated from native clones selected for resistance to cypress cortical canker. IPSP-CNR researcher Roberto Danti contributes scientific expertise focused on diseases threatening the avenue.
The project combines conservation of a Tuscan landscape landmark with research-based management of monumental greenery. It is financed, promoted and supported by Tenuta San Guido as part of its environmental responsibilities and its family tradition of territorial stewardship, which also includes Mario Incisa’s creation of the Padule di Bolgheri Wildlife Refuge in 1959.
