Belguardo V 2021 — Vermentino Superiore

Belguardo began a major agronomic and oenological Vermentino research project in 2008. With the 2021 harvest, the project moved from Codice V to Belguardo V Maremma Toscana DOC Vermentino Superiore.

The wine’s identity was linked to Belguardo’s stellated-icosahedron emblem, derived from Leonardo da Vinci’s drawing for Fra Luca Pacioli’s De Divina Proportione. The new Superiore category followed an amendment to the Maremma Toscana DOC rules strongly supported by Francesco Mazzei as President of the denomination’s consortium. Its purpose was to distinguish leading Maremman Vermentino production and establish a higher premium segment for the denomination.
