Tenuta Margon begins the 2020 harvest

Tenuta Margon began its 2020 harvest on Monday, 17 August, approximately nine days earlier than the previous year. Chardonnay and Pinot Nero were harvested exclusively by hand in the vineyards surrounding Villa Margon.

Mild temperatures, particularly in April, accelerated vine growth. Rain in May and June, although concentrated in short periods, replenished soil-water reserves and prevented water stress. Picking started in the lowest Chardonnay vineyards and was planned to advance over approximately one month to the higher Chardonnay and Pinot Nero parcels.

Vineyard work had continued during the Covid-19 lockdown under revised safety procedures. Vehicles, equipment and work areas were sanitised daily, and harvest teams and transport were organised to maintain physical distancing. Mountain conditions, pronounced day–night temperature differences and environmentally responsible vineyard work resulted in healthy vines and aromatically complex fruit.
