Label / history
The wine takes its name from Donato degli Antinori (1701–1786), a nephew of Pope Clement XII who spent most of his life in Rome and held several important positions at the Vatican. The label reproduces an excerpt from a letter he wrote to his cousin Niccolò Antinori on 6 March 1729, expressing thanks to Pope Clement XII for the excellent sweet wines sent from Florence.
Antinori has made wine in Tuscany for more than 600 years.
