Vineyard and terroir
The 2024 grapes came from several vineyards in central Tuscany.
Grapes
Petit Verdot was also part of the 2024 harvest, alongside the varieties listed in the fields.
Vinification
For the 2024 wine, Merlot was picked first, followed by Syrah and Petit Verdot. Sangiovese and Cabernet came last, once every grape had reached ripeness and a harmonious balance of flavours. Each variety was vinified separately. After careful selection and gentle destemming, the grapes were softly crushed. The must macerated on the skins for about a week. Fermentation took place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of up to 25 °C. Malolactic fermentation was completed by autumn.
Ageing
The wine was aged on the lees for several months, partly in oak barrels and partly in steel tanks.
Tasting profile
Well balanced and expressive, with vibrant, concentrated fruit and a soft structure. The finish is long and elegant.
Label / history
The first vintage of Santa Cristina red was released in 1946.
