Vineyard and terroir
The grapes are grown in Tuscan vineyards. The nearby sea brings mineral and slightly salty notes to the fruit, while the sunny climate encourages ripeness and intensity. In Tuscany, Vermentino tends to show more salty, Mediterranean notes than it does, for example, in Sardinia.
Vinification
After harvest the grapes are gently pressed and handled at a low temperature to preserve the variety's aromas. Fermentation takes place in stainless-steel tanks at a controlled temperature of no more than 17 °C.
Ageing
The wine is aged on fine lees in steel tanks, which adds roundness and balance while preserving freshness and a clean fruit profile.
Tasting profile
Fresh, well-balanced and light in texture, with bright fruit and a Mediterranean character. The nose combines citrus, white flowers and ripe fruit with subtle herbal hints. The palate is juicy, with lively acidity and delicate mineral touches in a refreshing finish. It keeps its fresh fruit and bright aromas for 2–3 years.
Serving and pairing
Suited to outdoor summer gatherings and relaxed Mediterranean-style dinners.
Label / history
The wine is made at the Santa Cristina winery, on the outskirts of the ancient town of Cortona. The winery was built in 2006. Antinori traces its history to 1385 and is led by Marchese Piero Antinori, of the family's 26th generation.
