Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The vines grow in the estate’s terraced vineyards among olive groves and the Tuscan hills. Small walls of black lava stone surround the terraces. The soils are predominantly Pliocene clay.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand at optimal ripeness, usually in the second half of September, and selected at the winery. Vinification takes place in steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 22–26 °C.
Ageing
The wine matures for at least 24 months in barriques, 70% of them new. For the 2017 vintage, James Suckling recommends drinking from 2024 onward.
Tasting profile
Ripe, juicy fruit and a light balsamic note lead into a deep, firm, well-balanced palate with a long finish.
Label / history
The name Rasole comes from the local term for the small black lava-stone walls surrounding the terraced vineyards. Rasole is one of three wines made by Le Forconate. In 2023, it received a gold medal at the Sakura Japan Women’s Wine Awards and a silver medal at the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles.
