Tasting profile
Lively and expressive, with the breeze of the Tuscan coast alongside the aromas of Vermentino. The nose has intense fruit, with lovely hints of flowers and sage. The palate is full-flavoured, with excellent structure, balanced freshness and a very long-lasting fruity finish.
Serving and pairing
Suited to a refreshing summer aperitif. It pairs with fish and vegetarian dishes.
Label / history
"La Pettegola" means "the gossip" or "the chatterbox". The pettegola, or redshank, is a small bird somewhat like a sandpiper, about 30 cm long and weighing 120 grams. Its smooth, graceful flight reflects the wine's delicate, fruity, airy style. The name also alludes to the growing interest in Vermentino, which attracts more fans each year for its bright fruit aromas, freshness and balance.
Each year Banfi invites artists to create a limited-edition label for the new vintage. In 2025 the label was designed by Giovanni Esposito, known as Quasirosso, an Italian designer who works as an illustrator and content creator. For the limited "La Pettegola" collection released in 2026, he reimagined the saying "a little bird told me…". His illustration shows two women working together in a secret garden: one, dressed as a little bird, whispers into the other's ear. Floral motifs and Art Nouveau-style scenery surround them.
