Vineyard and terroir
The fruit is grown in Salento, Puglia, in deep, dry clay soils containing calcareous tuff. The region receives abundant sunshine, while steady breezes from the nearby Mediterranean Sea provide cooling conditions that support refined character and balanced fruitiness.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand at the end of August and taken directly to the winery for gentle pressing. Vinification takes place at a controlled temperature, with a 10-day maceration and frequent pump-overs. Technical director Andrea Leonardi oversees the winemaking.
Ageing
Malolactic fermentation and maturation take place in stainless-steel tanks until June.
Label / history
The estate includes a 16th-century summer palace that was once owned by monks who maintained the area's long-established winemaking traditions, as well as cellars and more than 350 hectares of vineyards.
