Vineyard and terroir
The Sangiovese grows in Puglia. The Mediterranean climate helps the grapes ripen evenly, developing sweetness and tannins.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested at optimal ripeness. At the winery they are destemmed, crushed and cold-macerated for 2 days to extract tannins and aromas. The must is fermented at 20–22 °C.
Ageing
Most of the wine is aged in stainless steel tanks. A small portion, 10–20%, is aged in oak barrels, which brings the fruit together with gently toasted tones and hints of toast.
Tasting profile
A rich, balanced dry red with a bright, velvety palate and expressive fruit. Delicate oak tones come from the partial barrel ageing. The nose is full of juicy cherry, recalling a breeze through a fruit orchard in Puglia.
Serving and pairing
Pairs with Italian dishes and red meat.
Label / history
"Luccarelli" is a project established in 2008 by Terre Di Sava and Farnese Vini. Farnese has overseen it since 2013. The range was created to express the potential of Puglia and to introduce consumers to the region's wines.
