Vineyard and terroir
The Vermentino is grown in Mogoro and the surrounding area, in vineyards at the foot of Monte Arci, an extinct volcano overlooking the town. The mainly limestone soils are rich in phosphorus, potassium and magnesium. The Mediterranean climate brings hot, dry summers and cold, rainy winters, while the surrounding Giara mountains moderate the microclimate during the hottest months.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested at optimal ripeness and undergo brief skin contact. Fermentation takes place with selected yeasts in stainless-steel tanks at a controlled temperature, with protection from oxygen.
Ageing
The wine matures on its lees for 40 days, with regular bâtonnage.
Tasting profile
Fresh in character.
Serving and pairing
Suitable as an aperitif and with light fish dishes or seafood.
Label / history
The Saragat range pays tribute to local Sardinian heritage, including the traditional patterns found in the area’s tapestries; these patterns decorate its labels. Atzei is owned by Fantini Group.
