Attilio Dejana’s 1934 Notes on Malvasia

Attilio Dejana’s 1934 Note pratiche di enologia e appunti tecnici ad uso dei vinicoltori sardi identifies Settimo San Pietro as a classic Malvasia-growing area in Campidano di Cagliari. It recounts the search for an exceptional ten-year-old Malvasia during Mussolini’s visit to Sardinia and the strong praise it received from Count Sernagiotto, director of the former Royal Special School of Agriculture in Cagliari. With no surviving copies known to the family, the Malvasia chapter was transcribed for preservation.
