Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The fruit comes from ungrafted vines in the estate’s highest vineyards, situated in Maletto and Linguaglossa at 900–1,000 m. The vines are between 60 and more than 90 years old.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand, destemmed and gently crushed. The juice remains in contact with the skins for approximately four days before a long fermentation with native yeasts. No sulfites are added during production, or only a minimal quantity is used.
Ageing
The wine matures for 18 months in 1,500–2,500 L epoxy-resin tanks, followed by a further 18 months in bottle.
Tasting profile
It has depth, high acidity, minerality and a pronounced texture.
Label / history
VA stands for Vigne Alte, referring to the high-altitude vineyards from which the grapes come. The wine is made only in the best vintages.
