Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The fruit comes from a north-facing vineyard in the Calderara contrada, at 610 m above sea level. The vines are more than 40 years old on average. The soil contains numerous small stones that absorb heat and release it in the evening, which may benefit the vines in cold, challenging years.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand, destemmed and gently crushed. Fermentation takes place on the skins for 60 days with native yeasts. No sulfites are added during production, or they are used only in minimal amounts.
Ageing
The wine matures for 18 months in 1,500–2,500 L epoxy-resin tanks, followed by a further 18 months in bottle.
Tasting profile
A feminine expression of Nerello Mascalese, with elegance, rich fruit notes and a silky finish.
Serving and pairing
Allow the wine to breathe for at least 30 minutes before serving.
