Vineyard and terroir
Fruit comes from the Fonti, Meleto and San Piero vineyards. The vines were planted between 1974 and 1997 at a density of 5,000 plants per hectare. Training combines spurred cordon and Guyot, and the stated yield is 60 quintals, equivalent to 6 tonnes, of grapes per hectare.
Grapes
70% Sangiovese and 30% Merlot.
Vinification
The clusters are destemmed and lightly pressed. The resulting must ferments in stainless-steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 22–24°C.
Ageing
The varieties are matured separately: Sangiovese in concrete and Merlot for six months in third-use barriques.
Tasting profile
Deep ruby red. The nose shows pronounced red-berry fruit with vanilla. The palate is fresh and rounded, with soft tannins and good persistence through the finish.
Serving and pairing
The balance between Sangiovese and Merlot is intended to make the wine adaptable to a broad range of food pairings.
