Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The fruit comes from San Piero, from vineyards planted predominantly to Malvasia Nera del Chianti in the 1970s. The soils combine clay and galestro.
Grapes
Malvasia Nera del Chianti. The wine is presented as an unusual varietal expression of a grape historically used in blends with other native Tuscan cultivars.
Vinification
Non-invasive cellar operations accompany a 20-day period of skin maceration. After racking, the wine is transferred to third- and fourth-use barriques.
Tasting profile
The colour is deep, intense ruby red with violet reflections. Small red fruits and floral notes shape the aroma. On the palate, alcoholic warmth and concentration are balanced by acidity and softness, with ripe, integrated and velvety tannins.
Serving and pairing
Serve at 18–20 °C. Pair with red meat, poultry and medium-aged cheeses.
Label / history
Camboi is an acronym of Campo dei Buoi. From the Middle Ages until the early 1960s, this area of Meleto was used for raising oxen. Vineyards dominated by Malvasia Nera del Chianti were subsequently planted there during the 1970s. Camboi is described as the estate's most recent creation and as a rare example of this variety made on its own.
