Vigneto Sospeso

Created for Profumi di Mosto 2018 and Pasini San Giovanni's sixtieth anniversary, Vigneto Sospeso reused former vineyard materials in the winery courtyard. Surplus vine-tying tubes, made from 70% recycled plastic, were suspended on steel wires to represent one hectare of vines between earth and sky. Approximately 4,200 red tubes stood for 4,200 Groppello vines; each tube was just over three metres long, corresponding to the estimated vertical development of a vine from its deepest roots to the top of its canopy. The installation incorporated three olive trees to symbolise the coexistence of vines and olives. It remained for one year before the material was returned for recycling. The estate subsequently replaced these plastic ties with rubber rings made from plant latex.
