Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The grapes come from Pellegrino's vineyards in the province of Trapani, on the western coast of Sicily beside the Tyrrhenian Sea. The vineyards lie at 20 m above sea level on mineral-rich clay soils. The Mediterranean climate brings mild winters, limited rainfall that often subjects the vines to water stress, and very hot, windy summers.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested in the second half of September. After a long maceration, alcoholic fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless-steel vats.
Ageing
The wine ages for at least 24 months in stainless-steel tanks and barriques.
Label / history
The name Gazzerotta refers to the elegant black-and-white magpies that fly over the barren fields in autumn.
