2024 Vintage
The 2024 growing season brought a mild winter, unusually warm early-April weather, a later cold period and persistent July rain in northern Italy. Wet vegetation and soils increased the risk of fungal disease, but preventive work and favourable historic sites limited damage in the principal vineyards. Hot August conditions then accelerated ripening, with results varying according to vineyard age and position.
The Serego Alighieri vineyards at Gargagnago and Vaio Armaron were scheduled for harvest in the first ten days of September. Their grapes were described as healthy and uniform, with high sugar and phenolic measurements. The wider technical assessment emphasized the value of hillside sites, day-to-night temperature differences, traditional pergola training and the long-established relationship between soils and local grape varieties.
