Vineyard and terroir
The grapes are selected from the estate's best hillside vineyards. The sites face south, and the vines average 30–35 years of age.

Sangiovese with other red grape varieties permitted by the production regulations.
Vinification
The grapes are selected by hand around the middle of September and dried naturally on mats for 4 months. Fermentation proceeds very slowly in step with the seasons, stopping during winter and restarting with warmer spring weather.
Tasting profile
Delicate ruby red with fine golden highlights. The broad, complex bouquet combines dried fruit, honey and assorted spices. The palate is warm and mouth-filling, with substantial structure and a very persistent finish.
