Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The fruit comes from organic vineyards in the heart of Chianti, at two sites: Panzano-in-Chianti and Florence. In Panzano-in-Chianti the vines grow at 400 m above sea level in loose, marl-rich soils. The Florence vineyard lies at 100 m in loose soils with a slightly higher proportion of clay. Both vineyards face south.
Grapes
The blend is 90% Merlot and 10% Alicante.
Vinification
The grapes are picked when they reach optimal ripeness. Fermentation starts spontaneously with native yeasts and is followed by at least 3 weeks of maceration in temperature-controlled, truncated-cone-shaped stainless steel tanks. Malolactic fermentation takes place in barriques.
Ageing
The wine is aged for 14 months in oak barrels and tonneaux.
Vintage notes
2019: a very favourable year in Tuscany. The summer was warm and dry, with enough rainfall thanks to rain in July and August. September temperatures stayed around the seasonal average. October brought little rainfall overall, although it rained often. The 2019 wines show deep colour, excellent aromas, concentration and a refined texture, and are considered very interesting and of high quality.
Label / history
Around 35,000 bottles are produced each year.
