Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The fruit is grown in Radda in Chianti, mainly in vineyards on well-drained clay soils with pockets of limestone. The Sangiovese comes in a small proportion from a single vineyard of old vines. The grapes undergo careful selection.
Grapes
Cabernet Sauvignon contributes character and elegance, while the small proportion of old-vine, single-vineyard Sangiovese brings delicate, authentic nuances to the aroma and flavour.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand at optimal ripeness. The must ferments at a controlled temperature for 10 days, followed by 15 days of maceration.
Ageing
The wine matures for 14 months in previously used oak barriques, followed by 12 months in bottle.
Tasting profile
The aroma is inviting, with delicate nuances from the Sangiovese. The structure is firm yet elegant, with a soft, supple texture and a very long finish.
Vintage notes
The 2015 growing season was consistently favourable. A mild, fairly dry winter was followed by a relatively cool and early spring. April was wet, while May was expected to be drier. Steady temperatures without sudden changes supported excellent vine growth and ideal flowering. The first two months of summer were hot and fairly dry; rain in August and an especially mild September then allowed the grapes to ripen evenly. Harvest began in the first week of October, and the crop was of very good quality. The vintage received a bronze medal at the 2019 International Wine Challenge.
Label / history
