When you read the site

Like any website, our server receives your IP address and your browser’s description of itself with every request. Our web server writes these to an access log, which we use to keep the site running and to see how search engines crawl it. The log is deleted after at most 30 days.

We count how many times each page is opened, per day. The count is a number against the page — it holds no IP address and no identifier. To avoid counting one reader twice, the address is kept in the server’s memory for 30 minutes and never written down.

The site is served through Cloudflare, which protects it against attacks and abuse and processes requests on our behalf. The site’s fonts are served from our own server.

When you leave us your email

Our forms — the newsletter, “Stay in the loop”, the forms for wineries and for getting in touch — ask only for an email address. It is sent to our mailbox together with the name of the form and the page you were on. We use it for that purpose only: to send the news you asked for, or to write back to you. We never sell it or pass it on for anyone else’s marketing.

Our email is hosted by Zoho Mail. To prevent abuse, the forms remember your IP address in the server’s memory for up to an hour, to limit how many times they can be sent.

Your rights

You can ask us what we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it — including taking your address off the newsletter — through the contact form, or by replying to any email we have sent you.

Changes

If we change how we handle data, we will update this page and the date at the top of it.
