“What’s in a Name?” Vintage Explained…

Every Altaneve wine has represented a single harvest since the company’s 2013 United States launch, allowing drinkers and the production team to recognize differences created by each year’s weather and growing season.

For Prosecco and other sparkling wines made by the Martinotti Method, freshness and vibrancy depend on the bottling date rather than the harvest year alone. Both pieces of information are therefore considered useful: vintage records the harvest, while the bottling year indicates how long the finished sparkling wine has been in bottle.

Producing and registering a new United States label for every vintage would be disproportionately expensive for Altaneve’s limited volumes. The company consequently uses labels across several years and adds the vintage and bottling year separately on the foil or capsule, allowing each wine type to be registered once while preserving year-specific production information.
