Tommasi Lands in Sicily and Climbs Mount Etna

The Tommasi family announced an investment in a wine estate founded in the early 20th century on the slopes of Mount Etna. The property, which had not yet been given its new name, covered 15 hectares at 570 metres above sea level in Linguaglossa, within the Etna Natural Park and a few kilometres from Taormina.

The vineyards were planted with Nerello Mascalese and Carricante for Etna Rosso DOC and Etna Bianco DOC. The property combined views towards the sea with the presence of Pietracannone, a large natural lava-stone formation, and included a 1,500 m² cellar for winemaking and ageing.

The agreement was concluded with the Bambara–De Luca family, historic hoteliers in Taormina. Both families emphasised affinities in family enterprise, industriousness, expertise and hospitality, together with a common intention to enhance Etna and its resources. Pierangelo Tommasi placed the investment within the family's broader ambition to represent Italy through its winemaking heritage.
