Cosa significa per noi “fare vino”

For the family, making wine in the Langhe cannot be reduced to an ordinary working schedule. It means living within the history of the hills, their agricultural and culinary traditions, the annual renewal of plants and the understanding that vineyards demand sustained care.

Earlier generations endured hail and other hardships, struggled to acquire land, tended it closely, celebrated good harvests and shared wine with friends. Mothers and grandmothers maintained gardens and orchards, preserved winter food, made pasta and bread, and produced cheese and ricotta from family livestock.

Economic resources were considered a means of improving the farm rather than its sole purpose: success might mean a sound harvest, a newly planted vineyard, a new cask or a plough. The present family regards itself as heir to this outlook and prefers investment in woodland to conspicuous consumption.

Viticulture has become the principal activity because of the suitability of the land, but the property remains an agricultural holding. Vegetable gardens, fruit trees, breadmaking, hazelnut groves and woods remain part of family life, with hazelnuts and woodland accounting for more than half the land.
