Team Building in Sicily: together we removed 700 kg of waste with Plastic Free Italia

From 21 to 23 May 2026, The Wine People held its annual team programme in Sicily, including visits to Cortese and Santa Tresa. The three days combined staff development with closer study of the vineyards, wineries and territories central to the group’s Sicilian work.

The participants joined the Sicilian winery teams and Plastic Free Italia for an environmental clean-up around the estates. Together they collected and removed 700 kg of waste. The activity also addressed plastic-pollution awareness and the role of everyday behaviour in reducing environmental impact.

The initiative was connected with five United Nations Sustainable Development Goals: sustainable cities and communities; responsible consumption and production; climate action; life below water; and life on land. Removing litter was intended both to protect terrestrial biodiversity and to prevent waste from reaching waterways, coasts and marine ecosystems.
