Rischio Gelate
The family went to bed fearing that the entire vintage might be lost to frost. Vineyard weather stations showed how strongly temperatures differed across the estate: Vigna dei Confinanti at Monfumo fell to 1.5°C, while Cornuda reached a minimum of 4.8°C.
This contrast illustrates the value of maintaining vineyards in different parts of Asolo DOCG. It provides insurance against localized weather and produces distinct base-wine profiles. Warmer Cornuda gives greater structure, while cooler Monfumo gives more vertical wines suited to very low dosage. The vines ultimately escaped the serious damage feared from a recurrence of April 2018.
