About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The Chardonnay and Viognier grow in limestone soils on the Tuscan coast. Caiarossa is located in the hills near the small village of Riparbella. The vineyards’ elevation combines warm Tuscan days with cooler nights, slowing and evening out ripening.
Vinification
Harvest begins in mid-August and is carried out by hand. The grapes are cooled and selected as whole bunches before pressing. The Chardonnay undergoes alcoholic fermentation in French oak barriques, while the Viognier ferments in cement vats.
Ageing
The Chardonnay ages in French oak barriques and the Viognier in cement vats. Ageing continues until approximately mid-May of the year after harvest.
Tasting profile
An elegant, savoury wine with aromas of orange blossom, exotic and citrus fruits, Mediterranean herbs and hints of the sea. The palate is soft and enveloping, with balanced freshness and a long, maritime finish.
