The 2024 Harvest at Tenuta Carretta: A Complex Vintage
After a mild, dry winter, the season brought a cold and rainy spring unlike any recorded locally in more than 60 years. Rain and low temperatures interfered with flowering and fruit set, while the team closely monitored pathogen thresholds and the ripening of each variety. Yields fell, but the bunches remained healthy, juicy and rich in natural acidity.
Harvest began with Nebbiolo for Cuvée San Rocco on 7 September. Cissone Pinot Nero followed on 10 September, Chardonnay on 16 September and Riesling Renano on 7 October. Arneis was collected from 12–22 September, Dolcetto on 25 September and Barbera on 27 September. Nebbiolo proceeded site by site: Podio on 2 October, Bric Paradiso on 8 October, Garassino on 9 October, Tavoleto on 11 October, Cascina Bordino on 12 October, and Cascina Ferrero and Cannubi on 14–15 October. The young wines showed freshness, fragrance, length and structure.
