#thefirstbubble: Tommasi’s Caseo new sparkling wines
Caseo launched three Metodo Classico Brut sparkling wines under the #thefirstbubble campaign: 410 Chardonnay, 470 Pinot Nero and 530 Pinot Nero Rosé. The numbers identify their respective vineyard elevations in Colli Verdi, where the estate has 90 hectares of vines.
The launch followed the Tommasi family’s acquisition of Caseo in 2013 and represented a new stage in the estate’s sparkling-wine development. Pierangelo Tommasi described the project as part of the family’s willingness to enter new territories and categories while combining initiative with experience and respect for tradition.
All three inaugural wines came from the 2017 vintage and matured for 36 months on their lees. Production was limited to approximately 6,000–8,000 bottles per wine: 6,500 bottles of 410 Chardonnay and 8,000 bottles each of 470 Pinot Nero and 530 Pinot Nero Rosé. Their predominantly clay soils contain active limestone, while their hillside positions rise to some of Oltrepò Pavese’s more significant elevations.
