Castellare di Castellina presents Torre Alta 2023

Torre Alta was introduced with the 2023 vintage as a pure-Sangioveto Chianti Classico DOCG. Its grapes came from selected vineyards at 450–510 metres, where marl- and limestone-rich soils, exposure and continuous ventilation favour ripening. The name refers to the tower dominating the estate.

The rainy 2023 spring demanded careful fungal-disease prevention. Adequate water reserves protected the vines during the heat of July and August, no insect attacks were reported, and the late-August and early-September day–night temperature range supported full ripeness.

Grapes were manually harvested in the first week of October, carried in small crates, sorted and destemmed. Fermentation took place in steel, followed by seven months in 225- and 500-litre French oak barrels and seven months in bottle. A Great Tit appeared on the label.
