New vintage of Castellare Chianti Classico, harvest 2023

The 2023 Chianti Classico featured a Great Tit, a vineyard bird that feeds on fallen grapes, berries and insects. Its appearance continued the estate’s biodiversity-themed label program.

A very rainy spring increased fungal-disease pressure and required more attentive vineyard work. July and August heat did not stress the vines because soil-water reserves were ample, and no insect attacks were reported. Strong temperature variation between day and night in late August and early September supported optimal ripeness. Healthy grapes arrived at the cellar, producing a wine characterized by freshness and soft tannins.
