About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The fruit comes from vineyards in Venezia Giulia, where predominantly marl and sandy soils provide good drainage. The favourable climate supports full ripening.
Vinification
Harvest begins in September when each variety reaches maturity. Pinot Nero undergoes a fairly long maceration on the skins, producing a copper-coloured must, followed by temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless-steel tanks. Refosco is picked into crates to avoid even slight crushing, carefully destemmed, briefly macerated and gently pressed, yielding a pale pink must. It also ferments in stainless steel. The two wines are blended before bottling.
