A guide to Tenute del Cerro’s Tuscan and Umbrian wines: from classics to new trends
The guide places Còlpetrone at Montefalco and identifies it as the largest private producer of Sagrantino, with 63 ha of clay-limestone vineyards and pronounced diurnal temperature variation. It distinguishes three dry Sagrantino expressions: Memoira, the estate’s first Sagrantino; Sacer, selected from the best-exposed and most suitable soils and matured for at least 12 years after its time in wood; and Ò di Còlpetrone, sourced from a particularly suitable parcel associated with the variety’s historic cradle.
The range also includes Montefalco Rosso, Saccr and Grechetto. Saccr is identified as a blend of Sangiovese, Sagrantino, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon matured in steel. The Grechetto represents the white-wine side of Montefalco. The guide also records the group’s 2026 label redesign using premium paper and embossed textures.
