Certified sustainability: Tenute del Cerro measures its impact

The sustainability programme assesses environmental, economic and social performance across the wine supply chain, including suppliers, packaging, transport, distribution and employee travel. Carbon- and water-footprint calculations are used to establish annual objectives such as reducing cellar-washing water, adding photovoltaic capacity, lowering electricity use and adopting lighter bottles.

The integrated system encompasses quality, environmental management, food safety and social accountability. Equalitas initially covered Fattoria del Cerro and La Poderina; Còlpetrone and Monterufoli were identified as the next estates intended for inclusion. Emanuele Nardi characterised third-party measurement, data collection and continuous verification as central to the company’s approach.
