The 2024 harvest at Tenute del Cerro: navigating climate challenges, quality, and understanding the territory

Frequent spring rain and moderate temperatures continued until mid-June, followed by hot, dry weather through mid-August. July was particularly dry and included a marked heat peak. Prolonged rainfall then returned from late August until about September 20, producing a wet first phase of harvest before sunnier and breezier conditions arrived.

Emanuele Nardi described 2024 as a good and interesting rather than exceptional year. The wines were expected to be less powerfully structured but fresh, savoury, balanced and elegant. Vineyard responses included retaining foliage to shade bunches during anticipated heat and later removing leaves to improve aeration in rainy conditions. Technology, local knowledge and adaptive canopy work were presented as complementary tools across the group’s estates, including Còlpetrone.
