Grandi vini per festeggiare insieme un anno speciale 1841–2021

The 180th anniversary recalled the May 1841 licence granted to Luigi Costamagna to retail wine produced in La Morra. The commemorative releases were Barolo Rocche dell’Annunziata 2017, Barolo Rocche dell’Annunziata Riserva Bricco Francesco 2015 and Barolo 2017.

The 2017 season followed a mild winter, a warm and rainy spring and an April cold spell. The estate’s elevated, ventilated vineyards escaped frost. Summer was hot and dry, but the cool summit position of Rocche dell’Annunziata and its clay-rich soil preserved vine water balance. Late-August and early-September rain, cooler weather and strong day-night variation supported gradual, complete ripening. Nebbiolo and Barbera achieved balance among freshness, alcohol and structure.

The 2015 season began with abundant snow and strong soil-water reserves. Ripening ran about ten days ahead of the preceding year but followed an otherwise classical climatic pattern. Elevation and deep clay layers supported steady Nebbiolo maturation and balanced technical parameters.
