Donnafugata for Sustainability

The sustainability programme covers the complete production chain, including responsible vineyard management, integrated pest control, organic fertilisation, mechanical and manual weed management and biodiversity conservation. Donnafugata joined Fondazione SOStain Sicilia and the VIVA programme in 2021. In 2024 energy use fell to 0.50 kWh per litre of processed wine, below SOStain's 0.7 kWh/l limit; photovoltaic capacity exceeded 300 kW, and 95% of all self-produced and purchased energy came from renewable sources. The programme also includes water management, lightweight bottles, recycled materials, FSC-certified cardboard, staff training, gender equality and community projects. Long-standing certification includes ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 50001 and ISO 22000.
