Pietro Russo becomes Italy's third Master of Wine

Born in Marsala in 1985, Pietro Russo grew up close to viticulture through his vine-growing grandfather and his father, an agrifood inspector. He studied Oenology and Viticulture in Conegliano Veneto, completed specialist studies in Asti and continued his education in Montpellier and Bordeaux, where he researched Pomerol's terroirs. Professional experience in Languedoc, Sicily, Spain, Bordeaux, Tuscany and New Zealand preceded his 2010 return to Sicily and entry into the Donnafugata winemaking team. In 2024 he became the third Italian Master of Wine.
