The 2024 Harvest at Donnafugata

The beginning of winter was colder than average, but most of the 2024 season was warmer and drier. Frappato and Nero d’Avola consequently began budding during the first half of March. Supplemental irrigation was used to maintain the balance between vegetative development and fruit production.

Harvest began shortly after the middle of August. Nero d’Avola picking finished on 26 August. Frappato harvest began on 22 August and continued as the final plots matured, ending on 10 September. The grapes achieved excellent phenolic ripeness, quality met the production objectives, and quantity remained consistent with recent estate averages.
