The harvest at Donnafugata: favorable weather conditions for an excellent vintage

The 2025 growing season restored more regular conditions after two difficult years. Autumn and winter rainfall built soil-water reserves, May rain supported vegetative growth, and summer temperatures remained generally moderate apart from a short heat spike on 24–25 July. Day–night variation then favoured gradual and balanced ripening.

At Vittoria, picking began on 21 August with Nero d’Avola from the youngest vineyards. Frappato followed from 1 September, and harvest of Nero d’Avola from the remaining vineyards began on 10 September. Work concluded on 17 September. Sugar and phenolic compounds ripened regularly and progressively; production matched the estate average and grape quality was assessed as excellent.
