About this wine
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand at optimal ripeness. Fermentation takes place in stainless-steel tanks at a controlled 24–27 °C, followed by 20–23 days of skin maceration. Malolactic fermentation occurs in stainless-steel amphorae and terracotta vats. The wine is bottled without filtration.
Ageing
Eighty per cent of the wine matures for almost two years in 225-litre Allier and Tronçais barrels; the remaining 20% matures in terracotta amphorae.
Label / history
Magnificat takes its name from a horse bred at the estate, remembered for her free spirit and strong character. Initially misunderstood, she eventually brought great joy to her owners. Drei Dona traditionally names its wines after horses bred on the estate.
The Drei Dona estate is situated in the hills at the heart of Romagna and belongs to the noble Drei Dona family, whose members were making wine in the 19th century. It is currently managed by Claudio Drei Dona.
