The new estate cellar in Castel Ringberg

The approximately 140-year-old cellar opposite Castel Ringberg had remained unused after the Walch family acquired the property about a century ago. Elena Walch directed its complete restoration. The structure extends into the vineyard slope and benefits from largely natural cooling. A honeycomb-like corten-steel lining protects the vault from moisture, while barrels from French and Austrian coopers occupy the interior. From the 2022 vintage, the Vigna’s white wines began maturing there. A small Souvignier Gris vineyard was planted around the entrance.
