After several years of trials, Faraone applied for and obtained authorisation to produce sparkling wine in 1983. The authorities responsible for Abruzzo and Molise assigned the code VSN1/TE, identifying the estate as the region’s first authorised producer. Passerina’s strong acidity and persistently low, stable pH are central to the wine’s capacity for extended traditional-method ageing. The release described in 2025 came from the 2021 harvest and was disgorged in April 2025 after approximately 30 months on the lees.
